Just like science, the internet and technology, a podcast is a wonderful thing to behold! The idea that we can find so many fascinating things to listen to and learn about is really remarkable and one of the best darn things about this modern world we live in.
If you haven’t discovered podcasts yet, I can only tell you that you don’t what you’re missing. A podcast is a lot like a recording of a radio show that you can carry around with you on your smart phone, PC, tablet or iPod (if that’s your shtick) and listen with your ear buds (or actual ear phones) anytime you please—on your walks, in the doctor’s office or just in your easy chair at home while you’re resting your eyes. It’s kinda like having an encyclopedia right there in your pocket. And they’re all free.
Some of the most brilliant minds in the world contribute to this genre, and it’s almost impossible to not be able to find something that interests, intrigues, entertains and excites you.
I listen to lots of podcasts, but here are some that I just can’t miss.
Problogger Podcast: Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging with Darren Rowse – Darren is a super, uber blogger. As his blogs have grown in popularity and have begun to generate income, blogging has grown from a hobby (some would say an obsession), to a part time job through to a fully fledged business in recent times. He has slowly built his blogging into an income source that has enabled him to dedicate more and more time to the medium to the point where he is currently a full time blogger – a ProBlogger.
Hack the Entrepreneur with Jon Naster – Hack The Entrepreneur reveals the fears, habits, and inner-battles behind big name entrepreneurs and those on the path to success. It is a show created for you the entrepreneur, small business owner, or startup founder. ‘Entrepreneur hacking’ can be any trick, shortcut, skill, or method that allows anyone to crush it in business and in life. In other words, it is anything that solves a problem entrepreneurs have in an inspired, ingenious way. We know that everyone is unique and that they have to find their own path to success.
TED Radio Hour with Guy Raz – The TED Radio Hour is a journey through fascinating ideas: astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create. Based on Talks given by riveting speakers on the world-renowned TED stage, each show is centered on a common theme – such as the source of happiness, crowd-sourcing innovation, power shifts, or inexplicable connections.
A Way with Words with Jack Barrett and Martha Barnett – A show about language and how we use it. If you’re a nut about the wonderful English language like I am, you’ll love how these two tell tales about how English got to be the way it is.
Revisionist History with Malcolm Gladwell – Each week, over the course of ten weeks, Revisionist History goes back and reinterprets something from the past. An event. A person. An idea. Something overlooked. Something forgotten. Because sometimes the past deserves a second chance. The entire first season is available for you to download.
All these podcasts are available on iTunes for you to subscribe to, and there are thousands of other podcasts in all sorts of genres for you to subscribe to as well. So get busy, start listening and start learning.
And don’t forget that my blog posts are almost all available as podcasts for your listening pleasure.
So, with my pardons to and Arthur and Kathryn Murray, “Put a little excitement in your life; try podcasting.”
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you enjoyed it and perhaps learned something from it. Y’all come back now!
